Nassau County Police detectives said that a man entered the Verizon store on Front Street on July 29 last year, displaying a handgun. The man ordered employees and customers to the floor, demanding that one employee open a safe to steal a variety of Apple iPhones.

The suspect - later identified as Hempstead resident Latise Eady - then fled on foot on Front Street with the stolen phones.

Police said that on Wednesday, Feb. 26, Maple Avenue resident Eady, 27, was arrested in Hempstead for the Verizon store burglary.

According to police, the investigation found that Eady was also responsible for a burglary of a Hempstead home on Sept. 11 last year, when he allegedly stole clothing and other items from the residence.

He also is tied to an Oct. 9 burglary of H.L. Gross and Bros. Jewelers on Franklin Avenue, when he allegedly stole assorted jewelry and other items.

Eady was arrested and charged with second-degree robbery and two counts of second-degree burglary.
